SMS sending via SMTP protocol (Mail-to-SMS)

How does it work ?
Send your SMS via SMTP protocole through your favorite email client.
Compose your SMS as an e-mail and send it directly to our bot who will transform it into an SMS.
Prerequisites
To send an SMS via e-mail, you have to set your message correctly:
  • Recipient address (TO): sms@mail2sms.smsbox.net
  • Object: login=yourlogin&pass=password&dest=336XXXXXXXX&mode=Expert&origine=You
  • Message: Type your SMS content.
No characters limitation, if you exceed 160 characters, the end of your SMS is sent in another one.

Important:
  • The message content must be in Texte (text/plain) or Multipart (Texte + HTML).
  • It is recommended to use the standard encoding ISO-8859-15.
  • If your message exceeds 160 characters and contains at least 4 consecutive line breaks, the content of your message will be automatically cut to remove any signatures and disclaimers present.
  • You can specify the IP addresses allowed to use your account from your Customer Area section « API Security ».
Variables available
Each parameter is separated by « & ». You can put the variables in any order you want.
If you make a syntax mistake, the SMS will not be sent. Add the parameter notif=2 during your tests.
Parameter Description
login
(mandatory)
Your SMSBOX login defined during your registration.
pass
(mandatory)
Your SMSBOX password defined during your registration. This one could be filled in Hash MD5.
dest
(mandatory)
Your recipient phone number (example : 336XXXXXXXX for France). You can put several numbers separated by commas.
groupe
(optional)
ID of group you want to send the SMS. You will find this ID into your groups list on your Customer Area in your Adress Book. The setting dest being optional with this function.
mode
(mandatory)
SMS sending mode: Expert (Expert) or Economique (Economic) or Reponse (Response)
origine
(optional)
The SMS sender, which will be displayed at the top of the SMS.
The origin is only available for Expert sending modes.
You must first declare the sender you want from your Customer Area.

(recommended)
Define your message's strategy.

Private communication (person to person)
This strategy is made for person to person communications. Marketing SMS are forbidden through this strategy.
The privative and global blacklists are not checked.

Alerting message / proactive notice
This strategy is dedicated to alerts or proactive notices. Marketing SMS are forbidden through this strategy.
The privative and global blacklists are not checked.

Group communication (no marketing message)
This strategy is dedicated to communications without marketing subject to restricted group of users. Marketing SMS are forbidden through this strategy.
The global blacklist is not checked. However, your private blacklist is checked.

Marketing SMS
This strategy is made for Marketing campaigns.
Global and private blacklists are checked.
You have to give the choice to recipients to unsubscribe inside your message. More information
You must avoid to send campaigns after 9 PM, before 8 AM and on sunday & bank holiday. More information
date & heure
(optional)
Allows you to send a deferred SMS by indicating the sending date (format dd/mm/yyyy) and time (format hh:mm) UTC+1.
Example for a sending on 1st January 2013 at 12h30 : date=01/01/2013&heure=12:30
notif
(optional)
0 if you do not want to receive a notification e-mail (even in case of error), 2 if you want to receive a notification e-mail of your SMS sending (1 is for french notification).
By default no notification will be sent (notif=0).
